Dear Customer,
Your shipment may be subject to random US Customs & Border Patrol inspections (CBP). These inspections are completely random. CBP has the right to hold any shipment, import or export, for X-Ray (VACIS) or intensive examination, at will. Any additional costs with and/or related to the Customs Hold or Inspection or Examination on your shipment are your responsibility to pay in full prior to the container being released from the examination site for shipping and return of the container to port of departure.
Additional charges can and do vary from a hundred to several thousand dollars. There is no way to recalculate final charges until the examination has been completed and all the charges are received from the examination/inspection site, drayage company, and steamship line. Charges vary per examination type your shipment was selected for and how long the examination may take.
Possible additional charges can be but are not limited to: container demurrage, Inspection site storage, port storage, courier fees, roll over fees (when the original booked sailing schedule is missed) and any other charges related to the inspection.
By checking off that you agree to this advisory, you are acknowledging that you understand the information provided above regarding the CBP inspection and that you are responsible party to pay such charges before your shipment is fully released. You also acknowledge that Schumacher Cargo Logistics has no responsibility for your shipment being selected CBP Inspection, and that we strictly pass the charges from all parties through to you at cost. By accepting, I commit to paying any, and all charges related to the possible examination of my shipment.
