Worldwide Vessel/Equipment Displacements Causing Havoc on Ocean Container Movements
There is currently a worldwide imbalance in container distribution that is causing delays in almost every country. The cause is due to multiple situations all accumulating at the same time, from:
- USA & European Trade imbalances with China
- Reduced Vessels in service due to COVID work precautions
- Port Closures/ Slowdown due to COVID related labor outbreaks
- Governments implementing special COVID regulations
- Ocean Lines changing carrier schedules and capacity levels
- Chassis & trailer equipment shortages due to equipment displacements
The result is the same, there will be delays to ocean container shipments for the foreseeable future. You can expect to see 4-8 week delay during most of 2021., as well as increased ocean freight costs
Sincerely,
Management
